The Shukla Yajurveda Acharya Sri Ramaiya Sastrigal of Injikkollai created Sri Yajnavalkya Mutt (Year 1930) in Kondithope in north Madras with the help of Sri Poovadai Subbarao and was performing Poojas to the idols of the sage Sri Yajnavalkya and his consorts. He was also doing purohita ( Vedic ) activities for the Shukla Yajurvedha staying in the mutt. He waMs maintaining the mutt from his own income and with the help of donors. In 1930, he initiated and conducted his last Jayanthi Utsavam for Sri Yajnavalkya, the sage who brought Sri Shuklayajurveda from the Sun-God to the world.

After the demise of Sastrigal in 1958, Sri M.S. Krishnamurthi Iyer formed the Shuklayajurveda Sabha and continued the Yajnavalkya Jayanthi Utsavam in Siva Vishnu Temple at T.Nagar, Chennai. From then onwards this Jayanthi is continuously celebrated in the venues of Upanishad Ashram, Nungampakkam and Shringeri Sharada peetham at Raja Annamalaipuram, Chennai. Thereafter, since 1998, Jayanthi celebrations are continuously going on in its own premises of Sri Yajnavalkya Sabha at Pallavaram.
